How CiraLocal started
CiraLocal wasn’t originally about ice cream vans. It started at the airfield — tracking student pilots on their solo flights. The technology worked: real-time GPS, live on a map, updates every few seconds. We could see exactly where each student was, how fast they were flying, the lot.
Then one day, an ice cream van pulled up at the airfield. We got chatting — as you do — and he mentioned the thing that bugged him more than anything else: “People just never know where I am.”
He’d drive his round, same route, same time, but half his customers wouldn’t know he was coming until they heard the van. Some would just give up and buy from the shops instead.
We had a bit of a lightbulb moment. The tracking tech we’d built for pilots could do exactly what he needed — show people where you are, live, on a map they can check themselves. No guessing, no missed sales.
So we repurposed it. CiraLocal was born.
What we do
We give your customers a live map they can check any time — no app to download, no account to create, just a link. They see where you are, they know when you’re coming, and they’re waiting at the kerb when you arrive.
You plug a small tracker into your van’s 12v socket, share a link on Facebook or your website, and you’re live. That’s it.

What’s next
We’re just getting started. Right now CiraLocal tracks ice cream vans, chip vans, street food traders, and just about anything that moves — from tractors to Santa’s sleigh.
Coming soon is a dedicated branded app for your van, which will be an optional extra. We’ve also got plans for route history, customer notifications, and smarter sharing tools — all included in the same monthly fee.
